Kindergarten at Tree Top Academy

Our fully accredited Kindergarten program is grounded in well researched and proven teaching practices from leading researchers in the field of Early Childhood Education. We maintain a low student to teacher ratio, and provide individualized learning plans, developed for each child in partnership with the teacher and parents.

Kindergarten Schedule

5 days full time 8:15am – 3:00pm

  • We are fully accredited by the Association of Independent Schools of Florida and The National Council for Private School Accreditation and Cognia. Our kindergarten teacher, Jennifer Matthews is highly qualified, she holds a Bachelor's degree in Family and Child Development. She has been teaching kindergarten at TTA since 2012, and holds a teaching certificate from the Florida Department of Education for age 3 - grade 3. She is also currently pursuing a Masters degree in Education in Curriculum and Instruction specialization in Early Childhood.

  • Our curriculum is grounded in well researched and proven teaching practices from leading researchers in the field of Early Childhood Education. We follow the Florida Standards for English Language Arts and Math, so students are fully prepared for 1st grade. We teach these standards following our Tree Top Approach to Learning by using a child centered, Project Based approach and Visible Thinking routines developed at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. We also take relevant field trips to various locations to extend learning into the real world.

  • Hand held tablets are available for students to use to reinforce skills and for research on relevant topics. Homework is given on an individual basis as needed for skill development, or as a fun, family connecting, project.

  • One of the most unique benefits of our kindergarten program is that an individualized learning plan is developed for each child. This plan is established in partnership with the teacher and parents. It specifies individual goals for each child. The goals are set in collaboration with parents based on assessment and classroom performance.
